Summer Activities For Young People

LLCCDC are working in partnership with Highlife Highland this summer to arrange for transport to take young people from Lybster and surrounding areas to take part in some of Highlife Highlands summer ‘Fusion’ programme.

All activities are FREE but you will need to book with LLCCDC to have your name added to the list. LUNCH IS NOT PROVIDED.

These activities are for young people aged 11+ only

The following activities with transport provided are;

Highlife Highland Activities

  • MON: 8th July 2019: 1-3pm: Fusion day: Arts & crafts, healthy eating,  wii fit, climbing tower.
  • THURS: 11th July 2019: 9.30am-1.30pm: John o’ Groats Trail: Guided Walk at Badbea.
  • FRI: 12th July 2019: 10am-2pm: Bushcraft in Dunnet Forest
  • WED: 24th July 2019: Landmark Adventure
  • SAT: 3rd August 2019: 7pm-10pm: Under 18’s Disco at Skinandi’s, Thurso

Young Persons Photography School

LLCCDC are offering 6 young people the opportunity to learn the basics of  DSLR photography by undertaking 30 hours of FREE tuition with professional photographer Angus Mackay.

The course will take place over two weeks starting on the 23rd July 2019.(timetable to be arranged)

This course is for young people aged 12-16 years, based in Latheron, Lybster and Clyth postcodes. The course will cover the fundamentals of using a professional camera. There will also be a field trip for students to develop their practical skills. Cameras and equipment will be made available to students.

When the course is completed, each student will submit a selection of their work which will be printed and exhibited in the Autumn at Lybster Community Hall. PLACES ARE LIMITED SO PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE
